Ask.
What would help?
PEOPLE · PERSPECTIVES · POSSIBILITY
Put openness into the way we welcome, listen and follow through.
Explore our purpose01 / Purpose
OPAQUE begins in Oslo, as part of everyday Norwegian society and open to everyone. The organization we are developing would turn that intention into clear invitations, useful contributions and responsibilities people can understand.
What the intention asks of us
Choose an intention. See the action behind it.
Explain what is on offer, who it is for and how to take part. Make declining as straightforward as joining.
“Would you like to join us?”
People should be able to see these intentions in what we do.
We intend to establish a nonprofit organization to support the movement. Its structure, contribution roles and ways of working are still being developed.

02 / Commitments
Say what you can offer, how much time you have and where your help ends. Try an example, then see how it changes with the reply.
An imagined exchange / Nothing is sent
Make an offer. Try a reply.
Give your attention to what they are saying. Ask before offering advice.
“I have 15 minutes. Would it help if I simply listened?”
An offer is still a question. Wait for the answer.
These replies are examples. Each one changes what happens next.
Ask whether the offer is useful. Adjust it together. An agreement begins only when both people choose it.
Keep the wording if it helps you start a real conversation.
The contribution relay
Imagined encounters, to make the idea concrete.
What takes shape between us
An idea worth sharing.
↓Listen or think together?
↓One honest perspective.
↓A reference, if wanted.
↗An interest is the beginning. The next step is a question.
Someone mentions an idea they have been thinking about. Start by hearing it. Find out whether they want advice before offering any.
“What have you been thinking about?”
An opening is a possibility, not an obligation to engage.
The other person keeps the choice.
03 / Responsibility
Taking part, being available and representing OPAQUE ask different things of a person. Keep the difference clear.
The distinction, in everyday life
Explore the three choices.
You can enjoy the idea, listen or share a perspective. You can also be busy. Being part of the movement does not make you available on demand.
Belonging is not a promise to be “on.”
Take part through a conversation, a shared interest or simply listening. There is more than one way to belong.
You do not have to earn the right to belong.
A separate invitation could show that you have time for a hello. Put it away when you need to; you can always decline or end a conversation.
Your time and boundaries remain yours.
We are proposing a distinct role for people who represent OPAQUE. It would involve vetting, agreed contributions and clear expectations for conduct and follow-through.
A proposed responsibility, still to be developed.
Wearing the mark, taking part or buying an item would not make someone an OPAQUE representative. That responsibility would come through a separate agreement.
